"I would have written a shorter letter, but I did not have the time." Blaise Pascal
I entered the writing minor with the overall goal of improving my fundamental writing skills, knowing that these improvements would then surface in all aspects of my writing. More specifically, I focused on improving the clarity and simplicity of my writing in order to take on a more professional tone. But as noted by Blaise Pascal, achieving this simplicity of thought is more challenging than one may first imagine. The diverse array of writing projects put forth by the gateway course exposed me to the challenges of simplicity while simultaneously facilitating great improvements. This portfolio displays these projects, and offer reflective insight regarding my creation of these projects as well.
Attached below is the cover letter I wrote as part of my application to the minor. This letter further outlines my goals as a writer, and clarifies my overriding aspiration to be a physician.
